Statement on AMS Exposed Account
August 19th, 2020
Kingston, ON – The AMS is continuing to read and reflect on each post released by @AMSxposed. The stories being shared are serious, upsetting and not in keeping with the culture at the AMS. We recognize that although most of these events occurred in previous terms, we have a legal and moral obligation to investigate all claims brought to our attention. As a result, the AMS Board of Directors has begun investigative processes into every story shared.
The AMS Board of Directors is a safe and neutral resource for individuals looking to share new stories or information relating to the stories shared on @AMSxposed. The Board is an independent body of the AMS whose purpose is to maintain oversight of our operations. They will be investigating the claims made on this account and will seek the assistance of external professionals where appropriate. The Board’s investigation will be conducted independently from the AMS Executive, Senior Leadership Team and Permanent Staff to ensure impartiality. Those who wish to file an anonymous report to the Board can do so here.
The safety and health of our staff is paramount to us. It is clear that a culture change must occur. For any concerns regarding the current term, please reach out to Eve Garrison, Director of Human Resources, Jared den Otter, President, Alexia Henriques, VP University Affairs or Alexandra Samoyloff, VP Operations. Those who wish to file an anonymous report to HR can do so here.
It is important to note that each submission results in consequences for the individuals depicted within them. We want to remind anyone submitting stories to ensure they are factual prior to submission. Please do not hesitate to contact us about any submission or to ask questions about the claims being made. Our virtual doors are always open.
