Volunteers for Mental Health and Addiction (“VMHA”) is a student-run group who connects Queen’s students with local Kingston organizations focused on assisting individuals suffering from substance abuse and poor mental health. Our club organizes a roster of students who rotate throughout each semester thereby allowing all members of the club to volunteer and participate. Depending on the needs of the local organization, volunteers will help maintain programs that support adults, adolescents and children living mental illness and/or addiction.

Our group helps revitalize and maintain programs that often are struggling to stay afloat due to lack of volunteers or resources. With the help of dedicated club members, we provide local community programs with the support they need to help individuals suffering from the consequences of difficult upbringings and/or circumstances. We are currently working directly with Youth Diversion Kingston, a social services group that tends to the care, prevention, and intervention of youth, often whom struggle with mental health and substance abuse.
