Queen’s Starts With Youth aims to raise awareness about abuse, specifically pertaining to children and youth. Children growing up in an environment plagued with violence are often significantly affected, but there is a lack of conversation in our community about these impacts. Socially, domestic abuse is often treated as a private matter as opposed to what it is: A public health crisis. We believe the silence around these issues perpetuates intergenerational trauma, and therefore, Starts With Youth intends to create a safe and inclusive platform for these conversations to be had. We believe that change begins with open dialogue and greater education about abuse, and that by better protecting children and youth as a community, we can break cycles of violence.
