The Queen’s Nuclear Energy and Environmental Design Team (QNEED) is a multidisciplinary group of Queen’s University students focused on using nuclear energy in environmentally conscious ways. New and updated nuclear technologies are in a constant state of progress, with the emergence of small modular reactors (SMR’s) being one of the newest technologies to enter serious development in recent years. QNEED aims to apply these technologies to current environmental and social issues, such as carbon emission reductions.

Each year we develop a report on a topic chosen by team members that will be reviewed with the intent to publish in conjunction with industry and faculty contacts. The report writing will be supplemented by 2-4 design project weekends throughout the year. To exercise members’ practical skills and enhance their fundamental understanding of the year’s chosen topic.
