Like hospitals, one of the values of Chess and Health is to help rehabilitate patients while bringing comfort and care to them. The only difference is that while hospitals use medicine, Chess and Health uses the benefits from chess!

Chess has been cited as a tool for rehabilitating stroke victims and fighting against dementia. At Chess and Health, we try to share these health benefits at Providence Care Hospital by teaching chess to patients through our weekly volunteer program. We also advocate for mental health awareness and wellness amongst the Queen’s population. Furthermore, we promote the benefits of health in general within the Kingston Community, especially in relation to chess, while conducting fundraisers on the side for health-related charities. No chess experience is necessary, and everyone is welcomed to join our innovative mission.
