Opportunities

Working and volunteering in the AMS will give you the opportunity to build relationships with students from across all years and faculties and contribute to making a lasting impact at Queen’s. For question on eligibility and how to apply, please refer to the FAQ page.

The AMS offers a wealth of opportunities to get involved during your time at Queen’s. The types of opportunities include the following:

  • Volunteer – Over 1,200 positions available. Some senior volunteer positions include an honorarium. The volunteer term duration depends on the position.
  • Part-time hourly (paid) – Over 700 positions available. Positions start in either May or September, and run for the duration of the school year.
  • Salaried (paid) – Over 60 positions available. Positions are typically 12, 10, or 8 month terms (starting in May, July, or September).

These positions fall under both the government or corporate side of the AMS. First Year Intern Council

First Year Intern Council

The First Year Intern Program provides the opportunity to first year students to intern with a senior level employee and gain knowledge about the AMS and work on projects in that field.

Incoming Student Opportunities

Apply in the fall to work during your first year at Queen’s! Any first year, transfer, international, returning BISC, or work-study student can apply in the fall.
The Student Life Centre, Common Ground, The Printing and Copy Centre and Walkhome hire part-time hourly service staff in the fall. Many volunteer opportunities will also have applications open in the fall.
