JDUC November Update
The AMS wishes to inform their members that the AMS will not be moving into the JDUC on November 29th, as previously informed by the university. This is due to measures outside of the AMS’s control, such as construction delays. This comes as a disappointment, after several delays impacting the AMS and their members from using the space.
In preparation for more updates to come, the AMS wishes to define the following terms, so their members better understand the situation at hand when reading information:
Occupancy: this term refers to the building being finished to a point where stakeholders and staff may enter the building without construction gear (hard hats, steel toe books, safety goggles etc.)
Readiness: the building is ready for services, stores, groups to move their belongings in and begin functioning within the building.
Please not that the previous updates given by AMS and Queen’s only spoke to the “occupancy date” of the JDUC.
The AMS is hoping to move in the JDUC sometime in winter semester. However, at this time, the AMS thinks it is no longer productive to share any dates suggesting when they will be moving into the JDUC. All of the members directly affected by moving in (Commissions, Offices, Services, Clubs etc.) will be updated accordingly as new information develops.
