Yes! All opportunities in the AMS are no AMS-experience necessary. The organization works hard to make all roles learning opportunities and a place to gain valuable professional experience.
As all positions are no-AMS experience necessary, you may be required to submit a cover letter, resume, writing sample and or portfolio for specific positions in the AMS. These positions typically include salaried positions and opportunities at Studio Q and The Queen’s Journal.

The major services include the Peer Support Centre, Studio Q, Walkhome, Queen’s Student Constables, Printing and Copy Centre, Student Life Centre, The AMS Pub Services, Tricolour Outlet and Common Ground Coffeehouse.
If an applicant is applying to be a Service Staff at a major service, applicants can apply to a maximum of two (2) major services. If an applicant is applying to be a Supervisor at a Major Service, applicants can apply to a maximum of two (2) major services. Part-time hourly positions not within the major services do not count towards this restriction.
If an applicant is applying for a managerial position in either the corporate or the government caucus, individuals can apply to a maximum of three (3) managerial positions in either the corporate or the government caucus. This does not include AMS Senior Management positions which includes the Executive, Office Directors, Commissioners and Head Managers.
If an applicant is applying to an AMS Senior Management position, they can apply to a maximum of two (2) positions. If an applicant is interested in explicitly working in the government caucus or the corporate caucus, they must submit one application for their first choice position, and note their second choice position in the provided space on the application page. If they are interested in one position in the government caucus and one position in the corporate caucus, they may submit two different applications and note this in the space provided for additional preferences.
For volunteer or volunteer honorarium positions, applicants can apply to and hold as many opportunities as they would like to. If you are in a volunteer position that is eligible for an honorarium exceeding $1,000, you are ineligible to apply for a position at a major service. These include positions at the Peer Support Centre, Studio Q, Walkhome, Queen’s Student Constables, Printing and Copy Centre, Student Life Centre, The AMS Pub Services, Tricolour Outlet and Common Ground Coffeehouse.
There is no limit to how many volunteer positions a person can hold at one time, excluding employees in part-time salaried and salaried roles. If you have specific inquiries regarding this restriction, please contact email@example.com.
Yes! If you are applying to multiple part-time hourly positions, AMS apply will prompt you to submit your preferences following the second application. You can change this selection later by clicking on your Profile at the top of the page on myams.org/apply.
If both hiring managers would like to hire you, the Director of Human Resources will make every effort to place you based on your preferences.
If you are withdrawing your application before the application deadline, you can go under the “My Applications” tab on AMS Apply and hit the withdraw button to the corresponding job posting. If you wish to withdraw after the application deadline, please email the Talent Acquisition Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org.
