The Earth Centre joins the AMS

April 23, 2015

KINGSTON, ON – The Alma Mater Society is excited to announce that the Earth Centre will be joining the AMS as a service under the Commission of the Environment and Sustainability (CES). This is a great opportunity for both parties who work to fulfill the same mandate of improving environmental sustainability within the Queen’s community.

“Due to the overlap between the work and goals of the CES and The Earth Centre, it seemed like an exciting step for the CES to adopt the Earth Centre as an AMS government service,” stated Leah Kelley, Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainability. “We feel this provides an excellent opportunity for the growth of both groups.”

The Earth Centre sells environmentally friendly household items such as cleaning supplies, at cost, to allow students to reduce their personal environmental impact in an affordable manner.

“We are very excited to be joining the AMS as a service in the coming year. This move will allow the Earth Centre to grow and promote sustainability within the Queen’s and Kingston communities. We look forward to seeing what incredible things this opportunity will afford in the future,” said Heather McKay and Liang Zhu, Earth Centre Co-Chairs, 2015-2016.
