Food CentreContact: Patrick Allin Located in McGillivray-Brown, the AMS Food Centre serves confidential and non-judgmental food service to members of the Queen’s community. We are a non-profit organization which aims to provide our clients with food services in the most comfortable environment possible. We operate mainly on donations as well as an opt-outable student fee from both the AMS and the Society for Graduate and Professional Students. As a non-profit organization, we aim for our funds to be put towards the upkeep of the Food Bank itself in the purchasing of fresh fruits, vegetables, milk and other items on a weekly basis. The Food Centre provides a reliable and confidential service to ensure that Queen’s students can be healthy and productive as they pursue academic achievement. We also seek to address the underlying causes of poverty so as to alleviate, and ultimately eliminate poverty amongst Queen’s community members. The centre also works closely with other relevant organizations in the Queen’s and Kingston community. Peer Support CentreContact: Nadia Aftab The Peer Support Centre is comprised of a dedicated group of trained peer counsellors, here to offer social and personal support to both undergraduate and graduate students at Queen’s University. The centre provides a safe and strictly confidential environment. You are encouraged to speak with one of our empathetic peer counsellors who are here to listen and talk about anything you want. As well, we can suggest available resources on campus and in the Kingston community. At the Peer Support Centre, no issue is considered to be too big or too small; no issue is considered weird, shameful or embarrassing. This is a very safe and non-judgmental space. We are open 7 DAYS A WEEK as a drop-in service or by appointment from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM in Room 32 of the JDUC. Call us at 613-533-6000 ext. 75111. More information can be found at www.queenspeersupport.com. Let us help you through the challenges you may face. We care for you and are here for your support! |
