Academic Grievance Centre

The Academic Grievance Centre is the place to go if you have any questions or concerns about academic grievances, discipline, or regulations. The volunteers that work in the centre, located in room 26 of the JDUC, are very knowledgeable about the academic policies of the university and can be a resource and support if you have a problem or simply need someone to listen.

    Bikes & Boards

    We are a repair shop that focuses on basic repairs for commuter, road, hybrid and mountain bikes as well as skate boards and long boards, while focusing on the promotion of social, environmental and economic sustainability through its internal operations and community outreach programming.

    We provide access to our tools for a small fee so if you know how to fix it but just don’t have the right wrench, we’ve got you covered! Throughout the year we will have a selection of refurbished bikes and new longboards for sale so keep your eyes peeled for your perfect match! Bike parts and accessories such as tubes, locks, lights and bells are also available for purchase.

      Common Ground

      The Common Ground is a student-run coffee shop offering a wide variety of espresso-based drinks, iced drinks, bagels and cream cheese, sandwiches, and baked goods.  The Common Ground proudly brews fair trade organic coffee from the Kingston-based company Multatuli.

      Located on the 2nd floor of the Queen’s Center, Common Ground staff invites you to study and hang out in their lounge.  Our lounge space can be used for studying, hanging out with friends, grabbing lunch, or can even be booked for events!

      And be sure to drop by The Brew, by Common Ground in the Upper JDUC (by Tricolour Outlet) to pick up a coffee, tea, or baked good on your way to class!

        Earth Centre

        The Earth Centre offers Queen’s students, faculty and community members an opportunity to transform their environmental concern into positive action through green consumerism and innovative discussion. The Earth Centre grants the Queen’s community convenient access to wholesale, at-cost environmentally-friendly products and information through its expanding library.

        The Earth Centre encourages students to engage in positive dialogue about the environment through exposure to new information and opinions on environmental topics.

          Food Bank

          Located in McGillivray-Brown, the AMS Food Bank serves confidential and non-judgmental food service to members of the Queen’s community. We are a non-profit organization which aims to provide our clients with food services in the most comfortable environment possible. We operate mainly on donations as well as an opt-outable student fee from both the AMS and the Society for Graduate and Professional Students. As a non-profit organization, we aim for our funds to be put towards the upkeep of the Food Bank itself in the purchasing of fresh fruits, vegetables, milk and other items on a weekly basis.

          The Food Bank provides a reliable and confidential service to ensure that Queen’s students can be healthy and productive as they pursue academic achievement. We also seek to address the underlying causes of poverty so as to alleviate, and ultimately eliminate poverty amongst Queen’s community members. The centre also works closely with other relevant organizations in the Queen’s and Kingston community.

              Holiday Housecheck

              Holiday Housecheck is a free service for any student at Queen’s. Running over the winter holidays and the summer months of May, June, July, & August, participants will regularly have their mail collected and full exterior inspections conducted on their home. Staff ensure doors are closed and locked, windows are closed and intact, and examine the premise for signs of break-in.

                Housing Resource Centre

                The Housing Resource Centre offers support for students who are experiencing a conflict with a landlord or housemate in a safe and confidential space. Trained student volunteers can also answer questions and provide information on property standards, leases, tenant rights, house hunting, home security, and more.

                  Peer Support Centre

                  The Peer Support Centre (PSC) is comprised of a dedicated group of trained student volunteers, here to offer social and personal peer-based support to students at Queen’s University. The centre provides a safe and confidential environment where you are encouraged to speak with one of our empathetic volunteers. We are here to offer support for any and all issues and can connect you with resources you may not have been aware of.  No concern is ‘too diverse’ or ‘too small’.

                  There are a number of ways to get in contact with the Peer Support Centre such as phoning in or dropping by. We are located in room 34 of the JDUC (facing the Publishing and Copy Centre, turn right and walk to the very end of the hallway).

                    Publishing and Copy Centre

                    The Publishing & Copy Centre (P&CC) is an entirely student-run service for all your photocopying and printing needs.

                    The P&CC mission statement, “To provide the Queen’s community with exceptional document and finishing solutions at competitive prices with trusted quality” really says it all.

                    The management and staff at the P&CC will work hard to help you complete your publishing projects efficiently, effectively, and affordably – all while in a fun, welcoming environment.

                        Queen’s Pub

                        Since 1977, the Queen’s Pub (QP) has been a tradition here at Queen’s University. Our relaxed atmosphere and great tunes will always keep you coming back. Come try our delicious menu with vegetarian options, a multitude of beers, or our fine wines and cocktails.

                          Student Constables

                          The Queen’s Student Constables is a peer to peer security service that embodies the unique idea of students being responsible for students. The Queen’s Student Constables are made up of Queen’s students, just like you, who wish to make a difference in the Queen’s Community.

                          Queen’s Student Constables work to keep everyone safe by upholding the AMS and universities rules and regulations at sanctioned events and venues around campus. As students, Student Constables understand that everyone wants to have a good time, but need to do so in a safe environment.

                            Student Life Centre

                            The Student Life Centre is comprised of the John Deutsch University Centre (JDUC), 51 Bader Lane (Grey House), MacGillivray-Brown Hall (MacB), MacCorry student street and the Queen’s Centre. Collectively these buildings provide over 10,500 sq m. of assignable space and facilities for student community governance and operations. Additionally, these buildings collectively constitute the principal location for the essential student focused programs and services including: faculty societies, student clubs and organizations, greater Queen’s and Kingston community groups, a wide range of entertainment and retail product and services, and a various student focused student organizations and university administration.

                              Studio Q

                              Studio Q is a student-run service, operated by the Alma Mater Society of Queen’s University.

                                The Underground

                                Unique doesn’t begin to describe the experience of our on-campus nightclub. Versed in years of tradition since its open in 1976, the Underground has seen many students and alumni walk through its doors. United with the Queen’s pub under the AMS Pub Services (otherwise known as TAPS), the Underground is the only student operated club in the country.

                                We offer a level of acceptance and warmth that is unparalleled in the Kingston community. It doesn’t matter what faculty you are from, The Underground welcomes all students who are invested in making each night special.

                                The Underground is open two nights a week featuring 3 young and aspiring DJs. At Throwback Thursday, sing along to the songs you loved but forgot about. Underground Saturdays offers a nightclub experience with a house party vibe, featuring Top 40 and Hip Hop music with a twist, blending beats with the current hits you know and love.

Whether you’re looking to buy some Queen’s clothing or merchandise to show off your Gael spirit, textbooks and school supplies to keep up in class, or bus tickets to go home for the weekend (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, or Toronto Pearson Airport), Tricolour Outlet is the store for you.

                                  Located in the upper ceilidh of the John Deutsch Center (JDUC), we also offer custom clothing or buttons orders and offer bus chartering services, allowing you to design your own Queen’s merchandise and experiences!                                     Walkhome is a student-run safety service at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. We provide safe walks to students both on campus and within the Kingston community. We are a completely anonymous and confidential service, so our staff members do not wear any clothes identifying them as a Walkhome team.

                                    We are inclusive to all students on campus, no matter your year or faculty. When you request a walk, teams of one male student and one female student will accompany you to a destination of your choosing. Whether you want enjoyable conversation, friends for your walk, or even someone to share with, Walkhome is the place to call!
