Description

The Run With Me Queen’s Executive Committee organizes a 5km run/walk that promotes a change in the way people perceive those diagnosed with mental illness. The event occurs in late September/early October each year and includes a resource fair and guest speakers who have struggled with mental illness and/or have had a loved one who struggled with mental illness. The event also focuses on the correlation between exercise and its positive effects on the emotional state of an individual. We also hold awareness and fundraising events throughout the year.

We hope to encourage the Queen’s and the Kingston community to help improve the stigma and the future surrounding mental illness. Everyone has been affected by mental illness in countless ways. We personally, can no longer stand by and allow fear and embarrassment determine the course of loved ones’ lives;; it is for this
reason that we are looking to start a new tradition amongst the countless others here at Queen’s.
